The museum world is poised for a leap in the quality of attention to design of exhibits and buildings that celebrate the diversity of age, ability and culture among visitors. A new NEA-funded web-based collection of case studies of universal design in the built environment, establishes a new level of best practice and invites an inquiry about what makes the difference between ho-hum compliance and a new vision of design that embraces our differences. The panel will present and discuss case studies framed in terms of design's impact on diverse visitors.
